The Downtown Pop-Up Shops at the corner of Weed and Court Streets were set up to rotate new sellers through. Online sellers, makers and artists each take a small storefront for a weekend, meet shoppers in person, and make room for the next vendor. The rest of the 2026 schedule looks different from that. Between mid-November and the last listed weekend in December, every booked slot goes to a vendor who has been here before. One of them has now been on the schedule more often than any other seller this year.
That changes how the corner works for anyone who walks past it on a Saturday. Over the summer, every visit was a coin flip. This fall, you know who will be there.
How a Weekend Shed Became a Tryout Space
The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation started the program in 2023 as a temporary marketplace. The goal was to let small businesses test the market in a storefront each one sets up for itself. When the program opened, the Community Advocate described the units as decorated sheds with shelves and electricity. The event listings give the venue as 17 Weed Street, directly across from Crown Fried Chicken.
Patch reported in May that a Regional Economic Development Organization grant from the Massachusetts Office of Business Development pays for the program, with the 495/MetroWest Partnership as a partner. That same story said more than 50 different businesses had used the space since 2023. Patch also cited MEDC's own count for last year. According to the MEDC annual report, the shops hosted 20 different makers, artists and creators over 32 weeks in 2025.
That 2025 figure gives you something to measure 2026 against. The 2026 season opened May 30 and 31. The posted 2026 schedule runs 29 weekends, through December 12 and 13, and names 17 different businesses. Last year's 20 makers were spread over 32 weeks. This year's roster is a little smaller, and a few names fill a large share of the bookings.
Who Kept Coming Back
Many 2026 vendors came once and moved on. Wicked Wheels, LLC. opened the season. Peace Bee & Rainbow Song Henna, Neyda Ragan – Calligraphy, Golden Gate Consulting, The Kitchen Canvas, Sissy Sue & Friends, How Sweet It Is and Leather & Lilacs each appear on the schedule for a single weekend. Others came back again and again. Here is how often the vendors still booked for this fall appear on the posted 2026 schedule, counting from opening weekend through the final December weekend:
| Vendor | Weekends on the 2026 schedule | First listed | Still booked this fall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pane and Panic | 12 | May 30–31 | Nov 21–22, Nov 28–29, Dec 5–6 |
| The Local Artizan | 4 | July 11–12 | Nov 21–22, Dec 5–6 |
| Note-ably New England | 3 | July 18–19 | Nov 28–29 |
| Hearts & Crafts by Alyse | 2 | Oct 3–4 | Nov 14–15 |
Pane and Panic first appeared on opening weekend and returned through the summer and into October. It is booked for three of the four remaining weekends with a named vendor. Three other vendors also returned several times over the season: Found Source Known, My Tiny Glass Garden and This-N-That Custom Gifts. None of the three is listed after October.
Of the four vendors still booked, Hearts & Crafts by Alyse has the most visible footprint elsewhere in town. It appears on the Jax and Bash Foundation's partner page, which lists a discount on a custom clothing item. The other vendors are best judged in person, at the shed, which is the whole idea behind the program.
Two Quiet Weekends Come First
The next two weekends are a gap. October 31 and November 1 are listed with all three shops available, and so are November 7 and 8. This isn't new. The schedule left whole weekends open over the summer too, including July 4 and 5, July 25 and 26, August 1 and 2, August 15 and 16, August 29 and 30, and September 19 and 20. Counting those and the open December weekend, 9 of the 29 weekends this season had no vendor booked when the schedule was posted.
Open slots can fill late. MEDC posts vendor announcements and schedule changes on its Facebook page, which is the best place to check before you plan a stop on one of the open weekends.
The Weekends Still Ahead
The current schedule page lists hours as Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Patch's May preview also mentioned Friday evening hours, from 4 to 7 p.m. The weekend hours on MEDC's own page are the safer plan for this fall. Here is the lineup as posted:
- November 14 and 15. Hearts & Crafts by Alyse, with two shops listed as available.
- November 21 and 22. The Local Artizan and Pane and Panic.
- November 28 and 29. Note-ably New England and Pane and Panic. The pop-up is the only downtown retail event on the city's November visitor calendar for those dates.
- December 5 and 6. The Local Artizan and Pane and Panic.
- December 12 and 13. The last weekend on the 2026 schedule, with all three shops listed as available.
So the last weekend with a named vendor is December 5 and 6. If you want to buy a gift from one of these sellers in person before the sheds close for the year, plan for that weekend or earlier.
The Same Saturday on Main Street
The busiest Saturday for the corner may be November 14. The Patch events calendar lists a 40th anniversary celebration for Joy-Den Jewelers that day, starting at 10 a.m. at 209 Main Street. That's a short walk from Weed and Court. Hearts & Crafts by Alyse is in the pop-up that same morning. Calendar entries come from the organizers, so check with the shop for details.
Main Street also has a new tenant on the way, one built around teaching. The Community Advocate reports that Third Space Kitchen, a cooking studio, plans to move into 277 Main Street, the former Flying Dreams Brewing building. Flying Dreams closed in December 2025. Marlborough would be Third Space Kitchen's third location, after Groton and Newton. It offers individual and group cooking lessons for people of all ages. The story gives no opening date.
Where December Stands
Last year, the Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting took place on December 7 on Main Street. As of late October, the November and December 2026 pages of the Visit Marlborough events calendar show the pop-up weekends but no 2026 stroll date. Until the city posts one, the pop-up weekends are the dates on the calendar you can plan around downtown.
The program's sign-up page asks interested vendors to contact Lindsey at MEDC. If you make something and the open weekends look like a chance, MEDC's sign-up page is where to start. MEDC lists its phone number as 508-229-2010.
